Tire sizes by generation

  • Fourteenth generation (2021–present)

The widest fitment range of any truck on the site. Work-focused XL and XLT trims run 245/70R17; Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum step up through 18- and 20-inch wheels to 275/50R22 on the top 22-inch packages. The off-road Tremor wears 275/70R18, and the Raptor runs 315/70R17 (a 35-inch tire) with an optional 37X12.50R17 on the 37 Performance Package.

  • Thirteenth generation (2015–2020)

    The aluminum-body F-150 — a major weight-saving redesign for 2015. Base trims on 245/70R17, mid trims on 18s (265/60R18, 275/65R18) and 20s (275/55R20). The Raptor returned for 2017 on 315/70R17 35-inch all-terrains.

  • Twelfth generation (2009–2014)

    Base 17-inch trims (235/75R17, 265/70R17) up to 20- and 22-inch luxury wheels (275/55R20, 275/45R22). The first SVT Raptor (2010–2014) introduced the now-iconic 315/70R17 35-inch fitment.

  • Eleventh generation (2004–2008)

    Mostly 17- and 18-inch wheels — 235/70R17 through 275/65R18 — with 22-inch packages (275/45R22) arriving around 2006.

  • Tenth generation (1997–2003)

    Moved off the long-running 15-inch wheels to 16s and 17s: 235/70R16, 255/70R16, and 265/70R17. The SVT Lightning performance truck used a 295/45R18.

  • Earlier generations (1980–1996)

The seventh through ninth generations rode on 15-inch wheels — 215/75R15 and 235/75R15 — with the 1993–1995 SVT Lightning on a 275/60R17. Confirm the exact size against your door placard.

Upsizing your Ford F150

The F-150 is one of the most-modified trucks on the road. On the current generation, trims on 17- and 18-inch wheels (245/70R17 is about 31.6 inches tall, 265/70R18 about 32.6) commonly move to a 33-inch tire with a leveling kit and little trimming; 35s typically want a small lift and some trimming. The Raptor already runs 35s from the factory (315/70R17) and clears 37s with its 37 Performance Package. Going bigger than stock slows your speedometer and changes how the truck tows and carries payload until it's addressed — and on the 22-inch trims there's very little sidewall to work with, so aggressive off-road sizes usually mean swapping to 18-inch wheels first. Always re-check clearance at full steering lock and full suspension compression.

Frequently asked questions

What size tires does a Ford F-150 use?

It depends heavily on the trim and year. On the current 2021–2026 F-150, work trims (XL, XLT) use 245/70R17; Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum run 18-, 20-, or 22-inch wheels (up to 275/50R22); the Tremor uses 275/70R18; and the Raptor uses 315/70R17 (or a 37-inch 37X12.50R17 on the 37 package). See the table above for your exact trim.

Are Ford F-150 tires staggered?

No. The F-150 uses a square setup — the same size on all four corners — so tires can be rotated normally and you only need one size when shopping.

Can I fit 35-inch tires on an F-150?

The Raptor comes with 35s (315/70R17) from the factory. On other current trims, 35s generally require a small lift and some trimming; many owners fit 33s with just a leveling kit. The 22-inch luxury trims have little sidewall, so a wheel swap down to 18s is the usual first step — always check at full steering lock and full compression.

Do all F-150 trims use the same tire size?

No — the F-150 has the widest trim-to-trim spread of any truck here, from 245/70R17 on an XL to 275/50R22 on a Platinum and 315/70R17 on a Raptor. Always match the size to your specific trim and wheel package.

Where's the correct tire size for my exact F-150?

The definitive source is the tire information placard on your driver's-side door jamb, or your owner's manual. The sizes here are the factory fitments by trim; if your truck has aftermarket wheels, the placard still shows what it left the factory with.
